新界村屋、丁屋僭建情況普遍，但由於人口密度低，樓層矮，當局執法相對比市區寬鬆。僭建風暴蔓延全港，政府強調對待新界及市區的僭建物，要一視同仁，引發新界原居民的強烈反彈，尤其是不少村屋建了四層或以上，有機會被取締。新界原居民認為，村屋不同於丁屋，村屋土地是1905年，港英政府收回鄉民土地後，再以「集體官契」形式批予村民，所以無高度限制，亦不受現行法例規管。 新界鄉議局主席劉皇發指部分村屋的環境，好比市區的劏房，村民是因為無地建屋而蝸居，表明不接受政府對部分村屋提出即時清拆，並透露會考慮提出司法覆核。究竟這場僭建風波牽連有多大呢？ 記者：鄺國惠/何嘉敏
