Videogames that get made into Movies
So we’ve arrived at our final destination. We've already weighed the pros and cons of movies and TV shows that get made into videogames, and there's only one last place to go. Videogames that become... movies! Perhaps the most notorious of them all, videogame movies are often hit or misses at the box office, and we're here to look back and figure out why. The very first major motion picture based on a video game was the infamous Super Mario Bros. of 1993. Featuring several big stars of the time, Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo. Unfortunately, we were saving Princess Daisy, King Koopa was a t-rex descendant, and Toad ... wasn't a mushroom. Don't get me started on the goombas. Needless to say, the movie sucked. Since then we've had Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Lara Croft, Resident Evil, House of the Dead, Doom, Silent Hill, Dead or Alive, Hitman and many, many other films that have made the jump from videogame to the big screen. But for the most part, they're... not that great! For fans of these series, seeing your game up on the big screen can be incredibly rewarding, but even more frustrating when the movies don't do the games justice. By themselves, each of these games have made their own mark on defining video game history, but I guess sometimes, even big budget movies can't recreate that success.
