Natural Resources Minister Christian Paradis spoke to reporters about his former aide, Sébastien Togneri, who resigned on September 30 over interfering in access to information requests. Siobhan Coady, the Liberal critic for the Treasury Board, and Gilles Duceppe, leader of the Bloc Québécois, repeated their calls for Paradis’ resignation over Togneri, citing the principle of ministerial responsibility for the actions of staff. Coady, Duceppe and NDP leader Jack Layton discussed their concerns about Nigel Wright, the Prime Minister’s incoming chief of staff. Wright left his executive position at Onex Corporation to join the PMO. The opposition wants the House of Commons Ethics committee to investigate Wright’s return agreement with Onex after it was revealed that Wright will return to the company in 18 to 24 months.
