World Music: I Viulán, "La Ricciolina"
(Italy) Here is a performance from the Sharq Taronalari festival that is held in the awe-inspiring Registan in Samarkand. The festival features the music of central Asia, but it also attracts artist from around the globe, and in this clip we see the Italian group I Viulan performing one of the songs that won them a prize (the festival is also a competition). "La Ricciolina" is a humorous folk tune from the Emilia area of Italy, and it recounts the pitfalls of purchasing a wife at the local "wife market." Caveat Emptor!Visit I Viulán online
