アメリカで竜巻による被害が拡大している。アメリカ北部のマサチューセッツ州で1日、少なくとも2つの竜巻が発生し、4人が死亡した。マサチューセッツ州スプリングフィールドの町中で発生した竜巻。木や建物を吹き飛ばしながら、町を流れる川の方へと向かった。川に差しかかると、水面の水をうずたかく巻き込んで、ゆっくりと川を横切っていった。竜巻は、時速およそ112kmで町中を横断し、多くの建物や家屋に被害が出ている。現地当局は、この竜巻で4人が死亡し、複数のけが人が出ているとしている。
