Scrums Liberal Foreign Affairs Critic Bob Rae responded to questions about his party’s foreign policy, which leader Michael Ignatieff unveiled today during a speech at the Empire Club in Toronto. Ignatieff said that there should be a role for Canada in Afghanistan after 2011. Defence Minister Peter MacKay, NDP Leader Jack Layton and Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe reacted to the Liberals’ announcement. Rae and Layton were also asked about the comments that NDP Deputy Leader Libby Davies made regarding Israel. Davies is facing backlash over her statement that the occupation of Palestinian territories started  in 1948, which is the year of Israel’s independence.
