It’s the perfect place for seniors to hang out during the sizzling temperatures. Not only can they burn some calories, but they can play cards or work on crafts. The center charges about $50 a year for seniors to use their facilities, but in extreme weather it can be a lifesaving choice. Experts say it's important for seniors to seek out places like it in the extreme heat. The federal Centers for Disease Control reports 3,442 heat-related deaths between 1999 and 2003, and 40 percent of those deaths were of people 65 or older.##
