Hardy Watkins Visits POPS, Arcadia
ARCADIA POPS on Route 66 in Arcadia is the perfect place for kids to take their own pop for a treat. Hardy Watkins, executive director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, and his two children know theyve arrived at POPS when they spy the 66-foot-tall pop bottle along scenic Route 66. The enormous sculpture, with its jaunty, cocked straw, shines bright white by day, and lights with every color by night. Inside, POPS showcases almost 600 flavors of soda, a convenience store and a restaurant full of everything from nostalgic diner fare to modern mixed salads. Take home a case of hand-picked soda or arrange for soda to be shipped to friends and family. For a fun day out, not too far from Oklahoma City, do what the Watkins did: head to POPS for soda, shakes and scenery along historic Route 66. For more, visit TravelOK.com.
