Adele Marcum, Part 1 of 4
In the first section of her presentation, "Where Should I Start? Beginning Research on Ancestry.com," Adele M. Marcum provides an overview of the Ancestry.com website.  Starting with t the home page, she demonstrates how to navigate the site by using quick links to move easily to specific databases or database collections; how to use the Ancestry database card catalog, browse databases by title, store your personal information and search history under the "My Ancestry" tab, store links to records that may be useful under the "Shoebox" tab, and receive updates on relevant new records through the "Ancestors I am Looking For" tab. Adele M. Marcum is a professional genealogist. She is currently employed by MyFamily.com as a content specialist and leads the Genealogist Research Team. A BYU family history graduate, her honors thesis was titled, "A Noble Heritage: The German-American Experience in Milwaukee." She frequently lectures and teaches classes on topics ranging from Internet genealogy (including using Ancestry.com) to various aspects of German genealogical research. This presentation was given in October 2006 at the 28th Annual Afro-American Historical Genealogical Society, Inc. annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
