New buses to come to KU
Katey Birge, President of Able Hawks, said KU's current KU On Wheels busses violate the Americans with Disabilities Act. The act states that all public transportation should be accessible by everyone. Able Hawks is a campus group that advocates the rights of people with disabilities. Having Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis herself, Birge said in the future, she may need a bus system that is wheel chair accessible. She said that this is an important victory because the new buses will allow people like herself to be more included in society.
