The 64th Aldeburgh Festival
The Aldeburgh Festival was founded in 1948 by the composer Benjamin Britten and the tenor Peter Pears. In 1967, the festival moved from Aldeburgh to a cluster of converted Victorian maltings at nearby Snape – now a year round centre for artist residencies and performances. This year, the Festival includes Snap, an exhibition by artists including Sarah Lucas, Don Brown and Gary Hume, who have a special connection with Suffolk. Jan Dalley talks to Aldeburgh Music chief executive Jonathan Reekie, and the artist and organiser of Snap, Abigail Lane.
