Scrums Liberal MP Denis Coderre commented on the relations between Canada and the United Arab Emirates, specifically concerning the closure of Camp Mirage. It will cost Canada an estimated $300-million to close the military base in the UAE.   Coderre also responded to questions about Defence Minister Peter MacKay’s handling of the defence file. Bloc Québécois House leader Pierre Paquette spoke to reporters about Bloc MP Serge Ménard’s allegations that Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt offered him an illegal campaign donation. Ménard may be called to testify before the House of Commons Ethics committee to speak on the matter, which took allegedly took place 17 years ago. NDP Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar discussed the closure of Camp Mirage and the decision to extend Canada’s mission in Afghanistan.
