Great Nature (1933-1945)
In 1933, during a car ride with the newly inaugurated Franklin D. Roosevelt, Horace Albright persuades the president that Civil War battlefields should be under the care of the National Park Service, not the War Department. Roosevelt orders a sweeping reorganization that expands the national park idea to embrace not just battlefields, but other historic and iconic sites as well.
