Chronotopia HSC Film
Time is a transcendent force that structures our lives, and with a sense of constant movement there is an absence of stillness as the world travels in varying speeds and paces. My film follows the journey of an isolated character, an anime girl, on her quest to find meaning in a foreign world, disparate to the utopian paradise in which she was constructed from. As she weaves fluidly through an energetic and rhythmic earth, the controlled paces of humans are exposed. In this chaotic and multi-paced dystopia, people have become silhouettes inside urban sprawls devoid of nature with carbon dioxide infused skies. Individuality has been threatened as rational order has been imposed by authoritarian figures, which manipulate movement and ultimately destiny, usurping the role of god. The trapped anime girl finds herself lost amidst the floods of people and eventually lets her artist coax her back into the utopian world.
