New Bedford Barrier Keeps Boats Safe In Rough Seas
The city of New Bedford’s harbor could become a safe harbor, if Hurricane Earl makes a pass at the New England coast. A three mile hurricane barrier built in the 1960's at the mouth of the inner harbor will help keep fishing and pleasure boats safe.
