Growth worries mount after Ireland budget
Ireland’s finance minister Brian Lenihan has announced €6bn of budget savings for 2011, slashing public spending and increasing the tax burden for the middle classes. David Gardner, international affairs editor, says that the big question is where growth will come from as Ireland takes on more debt to salvage the wreckage of its banking system, and whether that debt is ultimately payable.
