At 3:00pm in the Deprung Monastery some of the monks gather to debate scripture. They study scripture all day, and then debate with other monks to make sure that they've learned it. I believe it works as follows: The sitting monks ask questions regarding the scripture. The standing monk has to respond quickly proving his knowledge of the scripture. When he has made his point, he claps his hands. So it's fun to watch they are very animated and there is a lot of clapping.
