Hotel Travel Tip #2 - Tipping
When your staying at 3,4,5 star hotel the more stars and the more amenities equals employees to tip. The employees often expect the tip and your service can increase dramatically when you do so. Below are some general hotel tipping guidelines to follow. Parking Valet Tip $1-5 dollars (on a sliding kia-BMW scale) when you pick up your car. Doorman Tip $1 if he hails a cab for you. Bellman Tip $5 per bag in a five-star hotel and $1-2 dollars per bag everywhere else. Chambermaid Tip $1-5 per day, depending again on the type of hotel. Room Service Most hotels build in a service charge for room service. If your bill does not include one, tip 15-20% percent. Concierge It is the job of the concierge to assist guests, so it is not necessary to tip this individual. But again, if the service has been especially valuable, tipping $5-20 is reasonable.
