NASA STS 124 (1J) Space Shuttle Discovery Launch
A beautiful day in Cape Canaveral Florida for the launch of Discovery STS-124 (1J). "A man made rising sun on behalf of Japan" Rob Navias Assent Commentator Space Shuttle Discovery flew seven astronauts into space, led by Commander Mark Kelly. The pilot for the mission is Ken Ham. Karen Nyberg, Ron Garan, Mike Fossum, Gregory Chamitoff and Japan’s Akihiko Hoshide are the mission specialists for the flight. Discovery's visit to the ISS will include the installation of Japanese Pressurized Module. This section is the largest habitable module for the station and is equipped with its own robotic arm. Congratulations to the crew and to everyone at KSC/NASA/JAXA/NASA TV!
