York Schools Could Cut Non-Academic Programs
Gov. Tom Corbett’s new state budget is affecting every school district in the Susquehanna Valley. York city schools have been one of the hardest hit. The school board has been forced to make drastic cuts. The district's deficit — nearly $25 million -- grew after Corbett's budget was unveiled last week. In the past, the school has looked to balance the budget through teacher furloughs. In an effort to further trim costs, the board moved to slash non-academic programs at its Wednesday meeting.
