Guard Rescues Fisherman from Sinking Vessel, Part 1
ASTORIA, Ore. — The 34-foot fishing vessel Rose Marie sinks with one person onboard 20 miles west of the Columbia River entrance, Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Coast Guard Group Astoria, Ore. issued an urgent marine information broadcast (UMIB) and launched a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Cape Disappointment, Wash., and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria. The helicopter crew hoisted and transported the fisherman to awaiting emergency medical services at Air Station Astoria. U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Vanberkom.
