Broken Bow Lake Scenic Tour
Broken Bow Lake is located in one of the state’s most beautiful settings. The 22 mile long lake lies in the Ouachita Mountains of McCurtain County in southeastern Oklahoma, and its crystal blue waters provide a variety of water recreation including scuba diving. Beavers Bend State Park, located along the Mountain Fork River just below the dam, provides cabins and many other recreational facilities. 14,220 acres of land surrounding the lake are open for hunting, with 5,420 acres designated as the Broken Bow Public Hunting Area. The area is predominately forest, providing habitat for deer, wild turkey and squirrel. The McCurtain County Wilderness Area, a 14,087-acre oak-pine forest adjacent to and just northeast of the lake, was the first land acquired by the State Department of Wildlife Conservation. No hunting is permitted in this area and public access is strictly regulated. The lake's crystal clear waters provide one of the best year-round fishing spots in Oklahoma.Shoreline length: 180 miles.
