Digital Tipping Point: Computers in public schools in Extremadura, Spain 05 (2004)
This is one of many short video segments which will be added to the Digital Tipping Point (DTP) archive. The Region of Extremadura has become a global leader in using Free Open Source Software to bring the power and wisdom of the Internet to less wealthy groups. (A "Region" in Spain is roughly the same as a "State" or "Province"; a semi-autonomous political subdivision of the nation of Spain). Extremadura has historically been one of the less wealthy Regions of Spain, but the economy there is improving rapidly, and Extremadurans credit their burgeoning IT industry with helping to facilitate this growth.
