(Senegal/France) Wasis Diop grew up in Dakar, Senegal, and his video is full of images of the city from the 1969 film "Badou Boy" by director Djibril Diop Mambety, who was also Wasis' brother. Diop starred in the film as a boy. Now as a man, he sees Dakar then and Dakar now as the same, trapped in globalization’s relentless march. He sings of the way that automobiles choke the streets while the video reflects this with scenes of traffic jams and crowds that foreshadow the ever growing urban population in Senegal.
