Lamu Donkey racing - a popular attraction
The most popular event attracting unequaled attention is the donkey race. Lamu’s jockeys spend a considerable amount of time practicing for this event. Riders gallop along the edge of the island town, whipping and deftly controlling their beasts of burden. They have to go through preliminary rounds before the epic final that one cannot afford to miss.
