Scrums Liberal Foreign Affairs critic Bob Rae, NDP Leader Jack Layton and Bloc Québécois House leader Pierre Paquette commented on the government’s decision to extend Canada’s mission in Afghanistan past 2011, by keeping some troops for a non-combat role. Environment Minister John Baird spoke to reporters about the Mackenzie Valley pipeline project. An environmental review panel released its report on the proposed $16-billion natural gas project that would run through the Northwest Territories. Baird also commented on the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference that will be held in Cancun, Mexico, from November 29 to December 10. NDP Environment critic Linda Duncan discussed her concerns with a Northern Alberta tailings pond that appears to contain toxic waste from an oilsands project, which is run by Calgary-based Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.  (CNRL).
