Marc Quinn: Artist’s Talk
Marc Quinn talked to the broadcaster and critic Tim Marlow about recent work.19.06.2002 Artist Marc Quinn first gained notoriety with his work, Self (1991), a refrigerated cast of his own head made using nine pints of his own blood. Exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery and then as part of the Sensation exhibition, Self became a touchstone for a more committed kind of art of the body that was characteristic of British art in the 1990s. Since then, Quinn has remained pre-occupied with the ever-changing physical states of the body. Increasingly his work addresses ideas concerning mortality and survival in an age of cloning and genetic manipulation. He talked to the broadcaster and critic Tim Marlow about recent work.March Quinn’s work features in Tate's collection.
