Mit 13 Jahren besorgt ihm sein Vater eine geliehene Gitarre und ein Nachbar drückt John eine Kassette des Blues-Gitarristen Stevie Ray Vaughan in die Hand. John übt jeden Tag und schon zwei Jahre später hat er seine ersten Auftritte in kleinen Bars.
