A Manhattan lawyer (Gere) with a fab wife (Sarandon) and a high-powered career finds himself drawn to a dance teacher (Lopez) he sees on his route through the city every day. He follows her to the studio, only to discover that he’s got more unexpressed passion for dancing than for an affair. His wife figures out he's got a new hobby and hires a detective to find out if it's a woman. He'll go to almost any lengths to keep his double life a secret--at least until the big dance competition coming up.
