Public Record Human Rights and Diverse SocietiesThe Global Conference on Human Rights and Diverse Societies was held October 7th to 9th, 2010 at McGill University in Montreal. The Conference brought together academics, writers, journalists, legislators, diplomats, activists and others who are active in the field of international human rights and who devote their lives to building, supporting and studying diverse societies.The opening plenary on October 7th featured the Honourable Irwin Cotler (former Justice Minister), Malalai Joya (Member of Parliament, Afghanistan), Denis MacShane (Member of Parliament, United Kingdom), Faith Pansy Tlakula, (Chief Electoral Officer, Electoral Commission of South Africa) and Marie Wilson (Commissioner, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada).
