Minimally Invasive Total Hip Replacement
Schoolteacher Janice Isner, a former marathon runner and recreational cyclist, was determined to “get back her life, pain-free” after learning that the cartilage in her right hip had deteriorated completely. Her physician, Paul Manner, is an orthopaedic surgeon at the University of Washington Medical Center. The two discuss Isner’s total hip-replacement surgery. The program includes footage of her successful procedure, in which Manner’s minimally invasive approach avoided cutting muscle tissue, and promoted rapid recovery. From the Series:Talk Medicine
