The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
This is definitely one of the most powerful reads I have gotten through. A truly strong book and not for the faint of heart. It tells of an immigrant family coming to America in hopes of riches they could never find in Lithuania, but instead they live in the most squalid of conditions and face the harshest of hardships. I definitely recommend this book to those interested in the Industrial Age and the works of muckrakers such as Upton Sinclair, as well as those who are just looking for an interesting book.
