Over 37,000 homes planned for ABQ’s Mesa Del Sol
By the end of this year, the first homes at Mesa Del Sol will be popping up. Monday’s groundbreaking marks the first phase of residential development. 250 homes will be built initially. Once finished, Mesa Del Sol will have 37,500 homes. "this has been an incredible project that was many, many years in the making and from day one, quality was embraced, time and time again." Said Congressman Martin Heinrich. Developers are in talks with retail businesses to open up shops at Mesa Del Sol and say there is a list of 4,000 people interested in buying homes at the new community. But the after-effects of the worst recession since the great depression are still being felt, especiallyin the housing industry. We asked the developer what they plan to do to make sure the first 250 homes don't become a ghost town.
