Bins wire downtown
Lawrence Freenet is using the Constitution to its advantage to allow downtown patrons to use the Internet. The local service provider has teamed up with "The Lawrencian", an independent newspaper, to place wireless access points in newspaper bins. Previously, Freenet could not install its access points because of downtown preservation committee regulations. However, the publication bins can be placed anywhere, because they are protected by the First Amendment.
