記得最初做麗花皇宮的時候，觀眾未必接受這個場地及表演形式，所以票房收入並不樂觀，當時霑叔(黃霑)對我說了五個字﹕「盡做，但放開。」台前幕後都盡力做，這就叫「盡做」做到盡頭為止，但要懂得把成敗得失放開，不要太過計較。面對現在的逆景，我們先要求自己有一個盡做的態度，不要只顧自怨自艾。
