Hazrat Qibla Mufakkire Islam Dr Pir Syed Abdul Qadir Shah Jilani comments on the Hadith narrated by Hazrat Umm-e-Salma (ra) in which she states that the Holy Prophet awoke one day and his demeanour was mournful, he has red earth in his hand, she asked what this is, he informed her that Gabriel had notified him that Imam Hussain (as) would be martyred in Iraq. The Holy Prophet informed her of the location of the crime before it had even been committed. An angel who is tasked to facilitate the coming down of rain, (the reason this angel came to the Holy Prophet was because there would be a need for water that day) she states that she took the red coloured earth and placed it in a cloth.  Imam Muhiy ud deen writes in Futuhaat-e-Makkah that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) knew the whole Quran before it was formally revealed to him through the medium of Gabriel in parts, no Ummati (follower) can possess knowledge that the a prophet does not. When the Holy Prophet was instructed by Gabriel to recite in the cave of Hira then when the prophet (pbuh) refused to recite it was because he held that he was not one to read but one who teaches others to read! (quoted in Imam Baihaqqis Dalail un Nubuwwat and Abu Nuaim (d437) referred to in Khasais Kubra of Imam Jalal ud deen Suyuti (d911ah). Hazrat Sahib declares that giving the bottle containing clay from Karbala Shareef to Umm-e-Salma (ra) is proof of the Holy Prophets (pbuh) knowledge of Ilm-e-ghaib (knowledge of the unseen). He knew that she would live the longest from his wives despite being the oldest of his wives, he knew that Hazrat Aisha (ra) the youngest of his wives and Hazrat Fatima (as), the mother of Imam Hussain (as) would both pass away before the incident of Karbala. This proves the knowledge of the unseen posssessed by the Holy Prophet (pbuh)
