Nature: Braving Iraq
In the 1990s, Saddam Hussein systematically destroyed one of the Middle East’s largest and most diverse wetlands — the Mesopotamian Marshes -- to displace the tribes living near it, but Iraqi engineer Azzam Alwash has returned to repair the damage. Along with a host of dedicated experts and volunteers, Alwash attempts to restore the region to its former pristine state and revive his country's pride in its environment.
