Gatineau
Campaign Politics GatineauCPAC’s Danielle Young reports on the campaign in the riding of Gatineau. The incumbent is the Bloc Québécois’s Richard Nadeau, who is looking for a fourth straight election. In this race, Nadeau is running against the NDP’s Françoise Boivin, who was elected to the House of Commons as a Liberal MP in 2004 and who expects a tough campaign against the Bloc. The Liberals are pinning their hopes on Steven MacKinnon, a 42-year-old businessman who was national director of the Liberal Party of Canada under Paul Martin and has lived in the Outaouais region for several years. The Conservative Party have enlisted a new recruit to represent them this time around: Jennifer Gearey, a 34-year-old civil servant with National Defence and former journalist.
