In this highlights edition: Installation art from Tomas Saraceno, the Bregenz Winter Festival, haute couture from Maurizio Galante, the iconic Wassily Chair from Bauhaus, painter Herbert Beck and, finally, a winter trip to Moscow. Artist Tomas SaracenoNature, science and architecture seem to be inspirations for Tomas Saraceno’s airy constructions. His work is the subject of a show at the Statens Museum in Copenhagen running thru April 4, 2010. Bregenz Winter FestivalThe famous Bregenz Festival takes place in summmer on a stage on Lake Constance. But nowadays Lech am Arlberg hosts a traditional winter preview of what’s to come in the new season. Haute Couture from Maurizio Galante Italian fashion designer Maurizio Galante is a fixture at the Paris haute couture shows, but he‘s also branched out into furniture design. euromaxx met up with Galante in Paris and visited his bustling atelier. Bauhaus Icon - The Wassily ChairThe Model B3 Chair, known also as the Wassily Chair is a symbol of modernism and probably the most famous Bauhaus product. The chair marked a radical break from the standard designs of the time and heralded a new chapter in the history of furniture design. Painter Herbert BeckThe works of German water color artist Herbert Beck have a dreamlike quality. His art has its origin in "German Expressionism" and has been exhibited around the world. euromaxx celebrate the artist’s 90th birthday. Moscow in Wintereuromaxx reports on some of the cool things to do in the Russian capital even when it’s down to 30° below zero.
