Cops at play - Xi'an, China
As part of their tourist draw, Xi'an has reconstructed its city walls, originally constructed more than 600 years ago. The modern walls are about 12km in length, and encircle the downtown area of Xi'an. For a few yuan, you can rent a bike and circle around the city, which I happily did. I've been jones'in that I didn't get to do any serious bike-riding around Beijing, so this was a nice little fix. I came across these playful guys while I was biking around, and watched their pretend swordplay for awhile. The difference in terms of police presence once you get outside of Beijing is pretty striking. I mean, there's still plenty of them, just not on every corner like back at the capital.
