The Duhn Mudflat Races are billed as the world’s only horse race on the sea bed, making it one of the German equestrian world's most exciting events held every July near the port of Cuxhaven. The competition comprises 12 different race categories on the soggy ground traversed by tideway channels. Lower Saxony's mudflats were recently recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage site.
