A group of protesters lined Lawrence streets on Monday to ask city commissioners to change the name of Columbus Day. Members of Haskell's American Indian Studies Club asked the city to proclaim Monday as Indigenous Peoples Day. City commissioners said that the issue should be handled by state legislators.
