Consumer shares are higher in mid-day trading and Walgreen Co. (WAG) makes a strategic Internet buy. Shares of the company are up 0.4% to $39.99, not showing as much swag as drugstore.com (DSCM), which is soaring 112% at last check. Walgreen will buy the online drugstore for approximately $409 million, or $3.80 per share in cash. Meanwhile, IMAX Corp. (IMAX) is up 11.99% to $29.79 at last look, after announcing a 75-theatre joint revenue sharing agreement with Wanda Cinema Line Corp. Also, General Motors Co. (GM) is up 0.96% to $31.46 after announcing the sale of all of its Fixed Rate Perpetual Preferred Stock, Series A, of Ally Financial Inc. in a registered public offering for a total of $1.0 billion.
