CFL’s mean saving the environment, and saving money
tories about climate change take more and more headline space every day, and things have gotten so dire that top Republican politicians have joined Democrats to find ways to help the environment. Take heart...it’s not all bad news. If we as a society start rethinking how we live our lives, we can reduce greenhouse emissions and stop global warming before it's too late. And you can start making a big difference by making some very small changes in your own life. One of the simplest, cheapest, and fastest things you can do is as easy as... well, screwing in a light bulb. Replace all your incandescent light bulbs in your house with these low wattage beauties (HOLDS UP CFL). Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, or CFLs, are available everywhere, and they use 75% less energy and last ten times as long as standard incandescent light bulbs. To put that into perspective, you will end up saving about 54 dollars over the lifetime of each CFL you install in your house. And if that kind of savings doesn't make up for the fact that it is kind of a funny looking lightbulb, I don't know what will. CFLs come in all shape and sizes, and when emanating from your favorite lamp, nobody will be able to tell the difference. So let's review: CFLs give up the same pleasant light as standard bulbs, they cost a lot less over their lifetime on your energy bill, and they are great for the environment. So, go, grab some CFLs. I'll be here when you get back, with more tips on how to be more friendly to the environment
