SES: Andrew Goodman of Page Zero Media on Quality Scores
The attendance at the quality score session at this year’s SES conference in New York grew tremendously from what it was in past years. In an interview with Webpronews at the SES conference in New York, we talked with the founder of Page Zero Media, Andrew Goodman about the developments with quality scores. Goodman credits the dollars spent as well as Google’s new ranking formula to the huge impact quality scores have made. The new version is an upgrade, but still contains the same principles. Click-thru rate history and bids are still two key factors.Google says that quality scores are based on user feedback to ads and offers on websites. Without disclosing information as to how the algorithm works, it is known that quality scores serve two purposes: determining whether or not the key word is live, and determining bid prices. Goodman believes prices have gone up. Because of his knowledge of the accounts his company manages, Goodman is still confident that great deals remain for bidders.Although quality scores for new companies may be a struggle, they do not have to be. By trying new ads, establishing key words, and seeking Google’s help, quality scores can bring great improvements for new advertisers.
