Washington-based photographer Carol M. Highsmith’s lens has been capturing the American landscape for the past 30 years. Some of those images appear regularly on the VOA website - in weekly blogs by her husband, business partner and VOA reporter, Ted Landphair. Highsmith's latest project is a collaboration of a different sort. She's entered into a unique long-term partnership with the Library of Congress to take a 50-state tour documenting the cities, towns and countryside of 21st-century America.
