Periphery shareholders remain unfazed
Political chaos in Portugal, together with risk of restructuring in countries such as Greece, has not stopped the equity markets in these countries from outperforming those in supposedly safer nations this year. James Mackintosh, investment editor, says that it is down to two factors: cheap valuations and the lower danger of Spanish or Italian defaults.
