Windows Phone 7 is the new mobile operating system from Microsoft. It’s the successor to the Windows Mobile platform that launched in 2000. Phone 7 address many issues that plagued its predecessor. Firstly, it's an OS built for the consumer, not the enterprise sector. Secondly, it's an OS built to be a serious contender to the iPhone and Android platform. It borrows heavily from the user interface that debuted on Microsoft's now defunct Zune player. It also integrates heavily with many established Microsoft platforms including Xbox Live, Live email, and the Zune Marketplace.
