What is PAD?
Peripheral arterial disease, which is also called PAD, involves the blood vessels of the whole body. It’s the equivalent of coronary artery disease, but in the other vessels of the body. This is often associated with blockage of arteries in the legs, which limits the blood supply to the lower parts of the legs and the feet. Symptoms include cramping of the legs, hips and thighs. PAD affects an estimated 8-12 million Americans.
