Osprey program celebrates 100,000 flight hours
The Osprey program just hit its 100,000 flight-hour milestone. The program has seen 14 successful combat and humanitarian deployments to places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Haiti, since it was declared operational in 2007. The Marine Corps is currently phasing out the Vietnam-era CH-46 "Sea Knight" with the new tilt-rotor platform. The Osprey can carry twice the passengers and cargo, and flies twice as fast and high as its predecessor, keeping the Osprey farther away from small-arms fire. Cpl. Michael Krysinski has the story.
